[Watch] Rishabh Pant takes brilliant reflex catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan in IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test

Rishabh Pant took an impressive catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan in the opening Test between India and Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Day 2 (Friday, September 20). The wicketkeeper showed brilliant reflexes to complete the catch as Bangladesh were reduced to 92/7 after 30.3 overs.

Jadeja bowled a straight delivery on off-stump and Shakib went for a pre-mediated reverse sweep. The ball hit the bat first before hitting the boot. Pant ran forward to catch it. The third umpire adjudged it out after checking that the ball didn’t hit the ground before hitting the boot.

With the wicket, Ravindra Jadeja struck twice in consecutive overs. The left-arm spinner had dismissed Litton Das in the 29th over.


India dominate Bangladesh in on Day 2 of 1st Test

A clinical bowling display helped India dominate Bangladesh on Day 2 of the first Test.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 112/8 at Lunch, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the crease. Jasprit Bumrah has been the pick of the bowlers, returning with three wickets so far. Meanwhile, Akash Deep and Jadeja also scalped two wickets each.

Batting first, India put up 376 in their first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin starred with the bat, scoring 113 runs off 133 balls, including two sixes and 11 boundaries. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with 86 off 124 deliveries, an innings laced with two maximums and 10 fours. The duo put on a 199-run partnership after the hosts were reduced to 144-6.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant chipped in with 56 (118) and 39 (52), respectively.

Hasan Mahmud starred with the ball for Bangladesh, picking up five wickets. Taskin Ahmed also scalped three wickets. Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also shared one wicket apiece.

Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh are coming on the back of a 2-0 clean sweep against Pakistan. The Bangla Tigers, however, are yet to beat India in 13 Tests so far. Two matches have ended in draws.
