[Watch] Rishabh Pant takes his mother's blessings as he departs for Australia ahead of BGT 2024-25

Team India's Rishabh Pant departed for Australia on Wednesday, November 6, ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series. The wicketkeeper-batter was accompanied by his mother at the airport.

Before entering the airport, Pant was seen taking blessings from his mother by touching her feet. The video of the same was shared by one of his fan clubs on social media.

Pant looked in impressive form during India's recently concluded three-match home Test series against New Zealand. The southpaw finished as the leading run-getter of the rubber, chalking up 261 runs across six innings at an average of 43.50.

The Rohit Sharma-led side suffered an unprecedented 3-0 series defeat to New Zealand. The Blackcaps scripted history, becoming the first team to whitewash India at home in a three-match Test series.

Pant is expected to be a pivotal cog for India in the crucial BGT 2024-25. He was the top run-getter for the side during their last tour of Australia in 2020-21, scoring 274 runs from five innings at an average of 68.50.


"When Rishabh Pant is in the crease, everyone is scared" - Ajaz Patel after IND vs NZ 2024 Test series

New Zealand's left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel said the visitors targeted Rishabh Pant the most during the three-match Test series against India. He mentioned that there was a sense of fear within the team when the swashbuckling batter was at the crease.

Speaking to NDTV after the series, Patel said:

"When Rishabh Pant is in the crease, everyone is scared. We targeted Rishabh Pant the most in this series. He doesn't fear when in the middle. He plays his game, no matter what. His philosophy is till the time you are on the crease, you do what you want to, if you get out, no problem."

Ajaz Patel claimed 15 wickets from five innings in the Test series against India. He bagged the Player of the Match award in the final fixture in Mumbai, picking up 11 scalps across two innings.
