[Watch] Rishabh Pant trapped LBW for 60 by Ish Sodhi's sharp turning delivery in 3rd IND vs NZ 2024 Test

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's entertaining knock on Day 2 of the third Test against New Zealand ended abruptly at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The left-handed batter was undone by an Ish Sodhi delivery that turned a mile after pitching to trap him LBW.

Pant had come out to bat late on Day 1 after India's unprecedented collapse, reducing them to 84-4. Batting alongside Gill, he made a positive start to the day, dispatching three boundaries in the first over itself. The duo took India away from danger by putting pressure on the New Zealand pressure, bringing up their respective fifties in no time.

Both batters were dropped off Glenn Phillips' bowling during the session as India's score prospered. Pant was in full flow, recording the fastest fifty against New Zealand in Tests. He threatened to take the game away from the Kiwis, but Sodh ensured that was not the case.

Coming from around the wicket, the leg-spinner pitched the delivery well outside the off-stump. The ball then turned sharply, striking Pant's front pad as he looked to nudge it away while trapped on the crease.

After being adjudged out by the on-field umpire, the batter opted for a last-minute review. India managed to retain the review as the wickets hitting ended up being umpire's call, but it was not enough for Pant to continue his innings.

Have a look at the dismissal right here:

Pant recorded eight fours and two sixes in his knock, which could prove to be a game-changing one as India look poised to take a first-innings lead.

Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill hope to see India through till Lunch after Rishabh Pant's departure

It was Ravindra Jadeja who walked out at No. 7 instead of Sarfaraz Khan on his home ground.

The ace all-rounder has negotiated the spin barrage well so far while the settled Gill is holding the other end.

As of writing, India are placed at 193-5 after 42 overs, with Lunch around the corner on Day 2.
