[Watch] Riyan Parag dismisses Vidhwath Kaverappa to help IND A beat IND D in 2024 Duleep Trophy game

India A all-rounder Riyan Parag dismissed India D's Vidhwath Kaverappa to help his side win their first 2024 Duleep Trophy Match on Sunday, September 15. The match was played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.

The dismissal came on the second ball of the 83rd over, which was also Parag's first of the game. Kaverappa decided to block the off-break delivery but got an edge and the short-leg fielder took a diving catch. Kaverappa was dismissed for a three-ball duck.

With this loss, India D are no longer in contention to win the 2024 Duleep Trophy after their second successive loss. India C currently lead the table with nine points after two games and are followed by India B with six points and India A with five.


India A beat India D by 186 runs to register their first win of 2024 Duleep Trophy

India D won the toss and elected to bowl first in the game. They managed to have India A down on their haunches at one stage with the scorecard reading 93/5. A crucial 91-run partnership between Tanush Kotian (53 off 80) and Shams Mulani (89 off 187) helped India A post 290. Harshit Rana (4/51) and Vidhwath Kaverappa (2/30) starred with the ball for India D.

India A rightly used their assessment of the pitch and reduced India D to 96/5. Devdutt Padikkal (92 off 124) pulled them out of trouble and Harshit Rana (31 off 24) also contributed with the willow as India D folded for 183, trailing by 107 runs.

With conditions suitable for batting, India A scored 380/3d in their second innings, thanks to tons from Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma. India D failed to chase the target of 488 despite a hundred from Ricky Bhui (113 from 195) as they slumped to yet another defeat, this time by 186 runs.
