[Watch] Rohit Sharma 92 (41) Highlights: Indian captain ruthlessly destroys Australia in 2024 T20 World Cup match

Rohit Sharma played one of the best knocks of his career earlier today (June 24) in the 2024 T20 World Cup match against Australia. The Indian captain blasted a 41-ball 92 to destroy the Aussies at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

It is a crucial Super 8s round match for both India and Australia. Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision backfired as Rohit Sharma smashed 28 runs off the over bowled by Mitchell Starc.

Next, Sharma smacked a gigantic 100m six off Pat Cummins' bowling. The Indian captain completed his half-century off just 19 balls, making it the fastest fifty by an Indian batter in a T20 World Cup match against Australia. It was also the fastest fifty by an Indian captain in a T20 World Cup game.

It seemed like Rohit would become the first Indian skipper to hit a century at the T20 World Cup. However, he lost his stumps to Mitchell Starc just eight runs short of his century.

The ICC described the knock from Rohit as a 'ruthless' one. Notably, the Indian captain smacked seven fours and eight sixes at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Can Rohit Sharma's knock help India qualify for the semifinals?

Rohit Sharma's 92-run knock has helped India cross the 170-run mark in the 18th over only. India have lost four wickets, but with Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube batting in the middle, the Men in Blue will likely finish with a total of around 200.

If India take this game deep and deny Australia a big win, the Men in Blue will be through to the semifinals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. It will be interesting to see if Rohit's efforts end in a winning cause.
