Rohit Sharma has been in impressive form in Sri Lanka
Rohit retired from the T20I format after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He is leading the Men in Blue in the three-match one-day series in Sri Lanka. Team India are 1-0 down in the ODI series. While the first game at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was tied, the second match at the same venue was won by the hosts by 32 runs.
Even though India's batting has struggled in both the one-day matches, Rohit displayed impressive form, hammering half-century in both games. The opener slammed 58 off 47 balls in the first one-dayer. He struck seven fours and three sixes before being trapped lbw by Dunith Wellalage. India's batting crumbled after their captain's dismissal as they were all out for 230 in a chase of 231.
In the second ODI played on Sunday, India were set to chase 241. Rohit again top-scored for the Men in Blue with 64 off 44 balls, slamming five fours and four sixes. He featured in an opening stand of 97 with Shubman Gill (35) in 13.3 overs. India, however, again lost their way after their captain's dismissal. He was trapped lbw by leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay, who finished with exceptional figures of 6-33.
During his innings, Rohit moved to number four on the list of batters with the most ODI runs for India. He surpassed former captain and ex-coach Rahul Dravid (10768 runs) in the illustrious list. Rohit now has 10831 runs from 264 matches at an impressive average of 49.23.
