[WATCH] Rohit Sharma fans celebrate Ganesh Visarjan with 'Hitman' banner in Andhra Pradesh

Rohit Sharma certainly enjoys a huge fan following across the country, who leave no stone unturned to shower their love on him. Recently, a video went viral, where fans were seen celebrating Ganesh Visarjan (Ganesh Nimajjanam in Telugu-speaking regions) in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, with a 'Hitman' banner.

One vehicle carried a Ganesha idol with garlands and balloons, while a banner of Sharma with an Indian flag was installed on a rickshaw. The fans were ecstatic as they enjoyed the festivities and fireworks. Interestingly, a person named Rohit Sharma won the lottery draw conducted during the celebration.

Watch the video of the celebration below:

Sharma was born into a Telugu-Marathi speaking family in Nagpur, Maharashtra in 1987. However, at the age of two years, they decided to shift to Mumbai, and the veteran batter spent his entire domestic career in the financial capital of India.

The people of Andhra Pradesh have consistently shown their love for the 37-year-old, who proudly shared that his mother tongue was Telugu.

Sharma also represented the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers in the first three seasons of Indian Premier League (IPL). He amassed 1,170 runs in 45 games, while also registering a hat-trick. Then, he switched to Mumbai Indians and led them to five titles.

Can Rohit Sharma's men continue their dominance in WTC 2023-25?

India are currently placed at the top of World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings. They have secured six wins in nine games and possess a win percentage of 68.52. The impressive record comes on the back of their 4-1 series win earlier this year against England.

The Rohit Sharma-led side have arrived in Chennai ahead of the two-match bilateral Test series against Bangladesh. The series marks the return of Virat Kohli in the longest format after featuring against South Africa in January. Rishabh Pant also returns after nearly two years, while Yash Dayal received his maiden call-up.

Jasprit Bumrah was also named in the squad, and will look to prepare well ahead of an all-important Border-Gavaskar trophy.
