Rohit Sharma and his men have quite a task at hand as they have to win on Wednesday to ensure they do not lose their first ODI series against Sri Lanka since 1997.
Rohit Sharma has been on song in the ODI series so far
Rohit Sharma has been in sensational form in the ODI series and has continued from where he had left off in the format in the World Cup last year. The veteran opener already has two half-centuries in the two games with a total of 122 runs so far.
A blazing 58 in the first ODI was followed by an equally impactful 64 in the second game. However, he hasn't quite received the same assistance from other Indian batters. The Men in Blue were bundled out for 230 in the first game before it ended in a tie. It included a scenario where the Men in Blue needed just one run to win with two wickets in hand and they still couldn't score that run.
The second ODI saw an almighty batting collapse as leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay picked up a six-wicket haul. In the post-match presentation, Rohit spoke about the need to have a talk about the approach in the middle overs and it will be interesting to see if there's a marked improvement in the batters' returns in the third ODI.
