[Watch] Rohit Sharma gets caught in the slips for 6 in IND vs BAN 2024 1st Test

Team India skipper and opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for six in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh on Thursday, September 19. The match of the two-Test series is being played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The dismissal occurred on the first ball of the sixth over, the third Hasan Mahmud's spell. He kept the ball around the off stump and the 37-year-old tried to defend it with an angled bat, thus getting a thick outside edge. The ball kept a bit low but his counterpart, Najmul Hossain Shanto held onto the catch at second slip.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first on Day 1 of the Test at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The visitors managed to strike early with the wicket of Rohit Sharma. A couple of overs later, Shubman Gill walked back for an eight-ball duck. Virat Kohli, playing a Test after January 2024, was off to a good start but edged behind for a run-a-ball six.

Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud managed to deliver all three breakthroughs for the visitors. The 24-year-old speedster had his tail up, maximising the helpful conditions on offer.
