[Watch] Rohit Sharma gets emotional in dressing room after India's crushing win vs England in semi-final of 2024 T20 World Cup

Team India captain Rohit Sharma got emotional in the dressing room after his side reached the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup with a comprehensive 68-run victory against England in the semi-final at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The batting unit set up the platform in the first innings by scoring an above-par score of 171 on a tricky surface, which offered low bounce and turn.

Rohit Sharma (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (47) stepped up for the Indian team in the crunch match in tough conditions and helped their side put on a good total. The trio of Axar Patel (3/23), Kuldeep Yadav (3/19), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/12) then wreaked havoc on the English batting line-up and bundled them out for 103 in the second innings, securing a clinical win for India.

It was an emotional moment for Rohit Sharma, considering it was England who knocked out India during the 2022 T20 World Cup with a 10-wicket thumping win in the semi-final in Adelaide. He broke down after that game and was spotted in tears in the dugout.

"We adapted to the conditions very well and that has been our success story"- Rohit Sharma after win vs England in 2024 T20 World Cup semis

At the post-match presentation, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma shed light on the hard work of his team and lauded them for adapting well to different conditions swiftly. Reflecting on the win in the semis, he said:

"We have worked really hard as an unit and to win this game was special. We adapted to the conditions very well and that has been our success story. We have played the conditions very well. Very pleasing to see how we came though the game. I set a target in my mind but don't tell the batter as I want them to bat freely. I felt 171 was a very good total on the pitch and then the bowlers were fantastic."

On the road ahead, Rohit continued:

"We do understand the occasion but for us it's important to stay calm and composed which makes us make hood decisions throughout the 40 overs. I thought we were very steady today which has been the key to our success. When you are composed in your mind, it helps you. We will try our best. The team is in good shape and all I can hope is to put up another good show in the final."

India will face off against South Africa in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Saturday (June 29) at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
