[Watch] Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya & Co celebrate jubilantly after India's win vs South Africa in 2024 T20 World Cup final

Team India finally ended their ICC trophy drought after 11 years by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup on Saturday, June 29. They lifted the trophy by beating the South African team in the summit clash at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

India were down and out at one stage in the second innings of the match. South Africa needed only 30 runs from the last five overs, with Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller at the crease.

However, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh bowled sensationally in the last 30 balls and did the unthinkable to take their side over the line. Pandya dismissed David Miller on the first ball of the final over and then completed the formalities by giving only eight runs while defending 16.

All the Indian players were expectably elated and celebrated the win. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya went down on the ground and let their emotions out as other players ran around the ground.

"We fulfilled the wish of our nation"- Hardik Pandya on India winning the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy

Speaking to the broadcasters after the match, an emotional Hardik Pandya reflected on the hard-fought win and said:

"It's very emotional. We have been working very hard but something was not clicking but today we fulfilled the wish of our nation. Things have been very unfair but I believed if I keep working hard I will shine.
"It was a dream to win and especially getting an opportunity like this makes it even more special. We always believe we can do it, it was about executing the plans and let the pressure come to them."

He also applauded his bowling mates for doing the job under immense pressure in the end. Pandya added:

"Credit to Jassi and the other bowlers which changed everything. I mean I knew that I won't be calm it won't help me. I committed 100 percent. I have been in this situation and I have always enjoyed pressure situations."

Pandya ended with bowling figures of 3-0-20-3 in the final and five runs off two balls with the bat.
