[Watch] Rohit Sharma hits a maximum with his trademark pull shot during IND vs SL 2nd ODI

Rohit Sharma was all-class as he hit a brilliant pull-shot for a maximum during the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, August 4. The match is being played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Batting first, the hosts finished at 240/9 in 50 overs.

In reply, the Indian captain came all guns-blazing. The right-arm pacer, Asitha Fernando bowled a short ball, angling into the Indian opener on the fourth ball of the sixth over. In response, Rohit went after it with a pull shot and hit an 83-meter six.

The Indian captain carried on the momentum from the first game and smashed yet another half-century. Before departing, he slammed 64 runs off 44 balls, hitting five fours and four maximums.

Rohit also surpassed former Men in Blue coach Rahul Dravid to move to fourth place on the list of most ODI runs for India.

At the time of writing, India was 130/4 after 21 overs, needing 111 runs to win off 29 overs. Axar Patel (8) and Shreyas Iyer (6) are at the crease for visitors.


Washington Sundar struck thrice for India in the first innings

Charith Asalanka won the toss and chose to bat first. Sri Lanka didn’t get an ideal start as Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj dismissed Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of the game.

Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis stitched a 74-run partnership for the second wicket before the former was removed by Washington Sundar on 40.

Indian bowlers were brilliant in the middle overs as the hosts found themselves from 74/1 to 136/6.

The Player of the Match of the first game, Dunith Wellalage (39 of 35 balls) and Kamindu Mendis (40 off 44 balls), put up a 72-run partnership off 68 balls for the seventh wicket to help Sri Lanka post a decent total on the board of 240 runs.

For Men in Blue, Washington Sundar took three wickets while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two.
