India captain Rohit Sharma smashed a six to reach his fifty in the second ODI against Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4. The right-hander took the aerial route to complete his fifty off just 29 balls. It was his 57th fifty in the 50-over format.
The shot came in the 10th over of India’s run-chase. Kamindu Mendis bowled a floated delivery. Rohit leaned back to punish the ball outside off and launched it over the deep extra cover. It was the third six off Rohit's innings after having recently completed the most sixes as captain in international cricket.

A clinical batting display from India captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a dream start to India’s run-chase against Sri Lanka in the second ODI. The duo shared a 97-run partnership for the opening wicket.
At the time of writing, the visitors were 97-1 after 13.3 overs, with Virat Kohli and Gill at the crease. Rohit (64 off 44) was the last batter to be dismissed, caught by Pathum Nissanka at backward point off Jaffrey Vandersay.
Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 240/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Kamindu Mendis and Avishka Fernando starred with the bat, scoring 40 runs apiece off 44 and 62 deliveries, respectively.
Dunith Wellalage, Kusal Mendis, and captain Charith Asalanka chipped in with scores of 39 (35), 30 (42) and 25 (42), respectively. Washington Sundar was the pick of India's bowling unit, finishing with impressive figures of 3/30, while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets.
The opening game between the two teams ended in a tie. They will next face off in the third ODI at the same venue on August 7.
