[Watch] Rohit Sharma miscues to Glenn Phillips towards mid-wicket, departs for 11 runs in 3rd IND vs NZ 2024 Test
India captain Rohit Sharma continued his forgetful run against New Zealand in the second innings of the third Test on Day 3 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, November 3. The right-handed batter departed for run-a-ball 11 as the hosts lost their first wicket for 13 while chasing 147 in the fourth innings.
The dismissal came in the third over of India’s second innings. Rohit went for a pull short against Matt Henry but the ball wasn’t so short. The 37-year-old managed a top edge as he miscued the shot towards the mid-on and Glenn Phillips backpedaled from mid-wicket to complete the catch. Henry looked elated as he pointed towards skipper Tom Latham, apparently hinting towards him about the plan.

Rohit Sharma had previously scored run-a-ball 18 in the first innings before falling prey to the same bowler. The right-handed batter has managed a solitary fifty in his last five Tests ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has managed only 133 runs in his last 10 innings, including 42 runs in the two-match Test series in Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma, however, has a decent record in Australia, scoring 408 in seven matches at an average of 31.38, including three half-centuries. As per reports, he is likely to miss the first of the five-match Test series in Perth.
Earlier this year, Rohit had amassed 400 runs in five Tests against England, including two centuries. He will be keen to get his mojo back in Australia as the Men in Blue aim to complete a hat-trick of Test series win.
