[Watch] Rohit Sharma playfully hits Shubman Gill on his jaw while watching action on Day 2 of the 1st IND vs BAN 2024 Test
Skipper Rohit Sharma, batters Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, and head coach Gautam Gambhir, were captured having fun in the Indian camp on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh. In a viral 15-second clip, Rohit is seen playfully hitting Gill on the jaw after which Kohli and Gambhir burst out laughing.
India dominated Day 2 of the Chepauk Test against Bangladesh. Resuming their first innings on 339-6, they extended their total to 376. Jasprit Bumrah then claimed 4-50 in 11 overs as Bangladesh folded up for 149 in response. By stumps on Day 2, India had reached 81-3, with a substantial lead of 308 runs.
As the hosts batted during the first session on Friday in Chennai, some of the players and members of the support staff were seen enjoying themselves while following the proceedings.
In a fun video, Rohit can be seen discussing something with Gill. In the middle of the conversation, the Indian captain casually hits Gill on the jaw. Kohli and Gambhir, also seen in the frame, find it hard to control their laughter.
Rohit and Kohli fell cheaply on Day 2 in Chennai
While Team India have the upper hand in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh heading into Day 3, skipper Rohit experienced his second failure of the match. After he was dismissed for six in the first innings, the right-handed batter fell for five in the second essay. Like on Day 1, he was squared up by a delivery outside off and ended up nicking one.
Kohli, who was also out for six in the first innings, perished for 17 off 37 in the second innings. The right-hander batter hit two fours and was looking in reasonable touch, but ended up being trapped leg before by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The former India captain, though, could have survived had he taken the review since UltraEdge clearly showed that he had hit the ball.
Apart from Rohit and Kohli, India also lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) before stumps on Day 2. At the close of play on Friday, September 20, Gill was batting on 33 off 64 balls, and stumper Rishabh Pant on 12 off 13 deliveries.
