[Watch] Rohit Sharma puts in the hard work in nets ahead of 2nd Test of 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy
India's ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma was seen working hard in the nets ahead of the second Test (pink-ball) of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 37-year-old missed the opening match to be with his family following the birth of his son Ahaan on November 15, 2024.
The right-handed batter had a tough time in the recent warm-up match against PMXI, getting out for just three runs off 11 balls. Despite his dismissal, Team India secured a six-wicket victory. Meanwhile, ahead of the second Test, Rohit was seen putting in extra effort in the nets.

Rohit has featured in seven Tests in Australia, scoring 408 runs at an average of 31.38, including three half-centuries.
“He did that last in 2018, six years ago” - Aakash Chopra on Rohit Sharma potentially batting in the middle order in the 2nd 2024-25 BGT Test
Rohit missed the first Test of the ongoing series, with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal rising to the occasion in his absence and putting together a historic 201-run partnership in the second innings. The pair continued to open in the warm-up match against PMXI, with Rohit batting in the middle order.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel 'Aakash Chopra' said Rohit is likely to bat in the middle order in the upcoming Test, a role he hasn’t filled in the past six years. He said:
“It looks like Rohit Sharma will not open now because there was only one pink-ball practice match against the Prime Minister's XI, and in that, Rohit came to bat down the order. He did not bat as an opener.”
"When the India vs Australia pink-ball Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starts in Adelaide on the 6th, it would have been 2170 days since Rohit Sharma last batted in the middle order. He did that last in 2018, six years ago, at the Melbourne ground. He hasn't batted in the middle order for India in Test cricket after that,” he continued.
The second Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin on Friday, December 6, at the Adelaide Oval.
