[Watch] Rohit Sharma silences Pat Cummins with a 100m 6, sends ball on the roof of Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium

Rohit Sharma destroyed Australia's elite pace-bowling duo of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in the powerplay of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup match. The Indian skipper first scored 28 runs off the over bowled by Mitchell Starc.

Australian captain Mitchell Marsh then entrusted Pat Cummins with the responsibility of bowling in the powerplay. Rohit Sharma continued in the same vein and welcomed Cummins with a gigantic six.

Sharma judged the ball from Cummins to perfection and deposited it onto the roof of the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. Cummins could not believe that Rohit smashed the ball for 100m six.

Australian captain Mitchell Marsh looked tense in the background as Sharma continued to destroy his main bowlers. Commentator Ravi Shastri mentioned on air that it was Rohit's 200th T20I six, making him the first batter to achieve this milestone in cricket history. Shastri also hilariously described the sound of the ball hitting the roof as he said on air:

"It's on the roof. Thhan! Thhan! Thhan! is the noise."

Rohit Sharma got out for 92 runs off 41 balls in 2024 T20 World Cup match against Australia

It looked like Sharma would notch up his first century in the ongoing T20 World Cup against Australia today, but he got out for 92 runs. He lost his stumps to Mitchell Starc while batting on 92 off 41.

Nevertheless, his 41-ball 92 has placed India in a comfortable position. The Indian skipper blasted seven fours and eight sixes in his entertaining knock at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Shivam Dube has joined Suryakumar Yadav in the middle as India have reached 131/3 in 12 overs. A win for India in today's game will guarantee them a place in the semifinals.
