What Rohit Sharma said about India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph on The Kapil Sharma Show
Rohit led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies and the USA earlier this year. With the triumph, the Men in Blue ended their 11-year-old ICC title drought.
During his appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, the 37-year-old opened up on how desperate India were to win the title. He revealed that the team was even ready to be fined as they went all out to sledge South Africa in the tense final played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Rohit said:
"Hardik dismissed Klaasen in that over, and from then onwards, pressure started to build on South Africa. Then all the boys gathered and started to sledge their batters, details of which I can’t disclose here, but it was essential because we had to win at any cost."
"To win that (the T20 World Cup), we were willing to take a few fines. That is why I told the boys to say whatever they felt like; we would handle the umpires and referees later," he added.
Batting first in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, India put up 176-7 on the board and then restricted South Africa to 169-8.
