[Watch] Saim Ayub gets bowled by Mitchell Starc for 1 on debut in AUS vs PAK 2024 1st ODI
Australian quick Mitchell Starc dismissed debutant Pakistan opener Saim Ayub cheaply in the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan on Monday, November 4. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is hosting the first of the three ODIs of the series.
Having already debuted in T20Is and Tests, Ayub was handed his ODI debut in the first ODI. He opened the batting alongside Abdullah Shafique and got off the mark with a single off the first ball he faced.
However, his joy would be short-lived as on the fourth ball of the third over, Saim looked to block the ball towards covers when an inswinger from Mitchell Starc took the inside edge and in a moment, the off stump as well, bringing about an end to the southpaw's knock on debut.
Take a look at the dismissal below:
On his debut, Saim Ayub managed only a run while playing five balls. His dismissal left Pakistan on 3/1 in the third over, bringing out Babar Azam in the middle.

Since then, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have convened in the middle and have stitched together a partnership worth 35 runs for the third wicket.
At the time of writing, a drinks break has been taken with the score reading 59/2 after 16 overs.
