[Watch] Sajid Khan removes Ben Stokes cheaply on Day 1 of PAK vs ENG 2024 3rd Test
England captain Ben Stokes' poor form continued as he perished for 12 on Day 1 of the third and final Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Thursday (October 24). The left-hander edged one to slip off Sajid Khan's bowling as the off-spinner claimed his fourth wicket in the process.
The dismissal occurred in the 33rd over of the innings as Sajid invited the drive from the left-hander and the visiting captain took the bait. However, he only managed to get an edge as Agha Salman dove to his left to take the catch. Stokes had hit a boundary and survived 22 balls before perishing as England's score read as 118/6.
Take a look here:
Sajid, who played a critical role in Pakistan's win in the second Test, had earlier removed Ollie Pope (3), Joe Root (5) and Harry Brook (5). Before the three wickets from the off-spinner, left-arm spinner Noman Ali got rid of the visiting openers Zak Crawley (29) and Ben Duckett (52).
Ben Stokes had scores of 1 and 37 in the second Test against Pakistan
The seam-bowling all-rounder, meanwhile, didn't have the second Test of the series going as per expectations either as he scored 1 and 37, with England losing by 152 runs eventually. It was also the 33-year-old's first competitive game since sustaining a hamstring injury during The Hundred 2024.
As a result, Ollie Pope captained England in the three-Test series against Sri Lanka at home, followed by the opening game in Multan. England had won the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs, but lost the second as Pakistan roared back to level the series.
Both England and Pakistan have opted for three specialist spinners on a track, which is likely to assist spin as the game progresses. The tourists are targetting their second consecutive away series victory over the sub-continent nation.
