On the batting front, Suryakumar Yadav has stood out as the best performer for MI with 486 runs from 13 games. The swashbuckling opener Ishan Kishan is right behind him with 425 runs. The duo have been doing the heavy lifting in the batting department for MI this season.

Captain Rohit Sharma has been out of form, with only 257 runs at an average of 19.77.

"He needs to be free" - Simon Doull advises Rohit Sharma to step down as MI captain

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Simon Doull advised Rohit Sharma to leave Mumbai Indians captaincy as he already has his hands full with being Team India captain across all formats. He wants Rohit to enjoy IPL as a player rather than having the added pressure of captaincy. Doull said:

"I was a big proponent of him [Virat Kohli] giving up the captaincy of RCB, much like I am with Rohit, now that he is the captain of India. I just think this is the tournament where he needs to be free and just play."

He added:

"When I talked about Virat and the captaincy, it was like every pressure was on him. Indian captaincy, three formats, RCB captaincy, and just to see that taken away, and it was never going to go to someone who he wasn't going to respect. So there are only two or three players in world cricket that could have gone to Bangalore and been captain."

Mumbai Indians are currently fifth in the points table, with 14 points from 13 games. They now have to win their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad to strengthen their chances of reaching the playoffs stage.
