[Watch] Samoa’s Darius Visser breaks the record for most runs scored in an over in T20I

Samoa’s Darius Visser broke the record for most runs scored in an over in T20I against Vanuatu. He achieved the feat in the fifth match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A, 2024, on Tuesday, August 20.

The historic moment occurred in the 15th over of Samoa’s innings as right-handed batter Darius smashed Vanuatu’s Nalin Nipiko for 39 runs.

Darius hit three consecutive maximums to start the over. Nipiko then bowled a no-ball, with Darius hitting the free-hit delivery for another six, making it 25 runs off four balls. The fifth ball was a dot. Nipiko then bowled a second no-ball. The right-arm pacer followed it with another illegal delivery, which was smashed out of the park. Darius was on fire as he hit another maximum to finish the over.

He scored 39 runs in the 15th over, breaking the record for most runs in an over in T20I. Darius surpassed Indian legend Yuvraj Singh, who had hit six sixes in an over in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup, scoring 36 runs against England's Stuart Broad.

Also on the list are Kieron Pollard (2021), Nicholas Pooran (2024), Dipendra Singh Airee (2024), and Rohit Sharma-Rinku Singh, who also scored 36 runs in an over.
