[Watch] Sanju Samson carts Rishad Hossain for five consecutive sixes in an over in IND vs BAN 2024 3rd T20I
Team India keeper-batter Sanju Samson took Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain to the cleaners in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad on Saturday, October 12. The Kerala-born cricketer slammed the leggie for five consecutive sixes in an over with only the first ball going as a dot.
With the first delivery of the 10th over going for no run, Samson hit the ball cleanly off the remaining balls. The second delivery went over the bowler's head for a maximum, followed by the third over long-off. The elegant right-hander belted another straight six, while the fifth ball went over long-on. The final delivery went over the mid-wicket region for yet another maximum.
The 22-year-old Bangladesh spinner had conceded 16 in his opening over and his figures read 2-0-46-0 after conceding five sixes in his second. He didn't bowl more overs as the hosts put a massive 297/6 on the board after 20 overs.
Sanju Samson slams the 2nd fastest T20I ton by an Indian
The 29-year-old reached his maiden T20I ton off only 40 deliveries in the 12th over of the innings with a boundary off Mustafizur Rahman. Team India Test and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma, who did it in 35 deliveries, holds the record for fastest T20I ton from the country.
He eventually fell for 111 off 47 deliveries as Rahman got the better of him with a slower delivery. The wicket also ended a breezy 173-run partnership with captain Suryakumar Yadav, who joined him in the third over after Abhishek Sharma perished for four.
India lead the series 2-0, having won the first and second T20I by seven wickets and 86 runs, respectively. The ongoing T20I in Hyderabad is also the final in the format for Bangladesh's veteran all-rounder and former captain Mahmudullah. The tourists made two changes, with Tanzid Tamim and Mahedi Hasan walking in for Jaker Ali and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
India, meanwhile, left out left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh for an extra spinner in Ravi Bishnoi
