On the professional front, Sanju Samson is grabbing the headlines for all the right reasons. The wicketkeeper-batter slammed 107 runs off 50 balls in the first T20I where the Men in Blue won by 61 runs. It was his second consecutive century in T20Is having smashed 111 off 46 deliveries in the third T20I against Bangladesh.

He became the first Indian batter to register this unique record. He joined South Africa's Rilee Rossouw and England wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt on the elite list of players among Test-playing T20I nations. He, however, departed for a three-ball duck in the second game versus the Proteas.

"You just need that one big hundred" - Sanju Samson shares Ravi Shastri's message before his consecutive tons

Sanju Samson said that former India head coach Ravi Shastri expressed his confidence in him ahead of the Bangladesh T20I. The former coach said that Samson was only a century away from finding his mojo back and cementing his place in the squad for the next few games.

Samson said (via India Today):

"I remember him talking to me before the Bangladesh game in Hyderabad. He was like, 'Sanju! You just need that one big hundred. I am telling you. And you will be fine.' I think we are happy it happened and I am happy for everyone."

Samson added that his intent to score boundaries helped him dominate the Proteas in the series opener:

"There is not enough time in T20s to have a look and go at it. So atleast, the intent really helped. We definitely are the world champions."

Sanju Samson will next be seen in action in the third T20I in Centurion on Wednesday, November 13. The Men in Blue will look to bounce back in the series after losing the second game by three wickets.
