[Watch] Sanju Samson dismissed for 5 in the IND A vs IND D 2024 Duleep Trophy match

India D wicketkeeper-batter and Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson was dismissed for five runs against India A in a Duleep Trophy 2024 match. The match is being played at Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The dismissal occurred on the first ball of the 18th over. Samson looked to pull the ball bowled by Aaqib Khan but failed to get enough bat on the ball. He top-edge it to Prasidh Krishna at mid-on.

Samson was dismissed for five runs off six balls. He had a poor outing with the bat but enjoyed his time with the gloves behind the sticks. Samson has been selected for the Duleep Trophy for the first time. He replaced Ishan Kishan, who is playing for India C.

India D found themselves in trouble as they lost four wickets on Day 2 of their Duleep Trophy match against India A. Atharva Taide was dismissed in the first over and Shreyas Iyer (0 off 7) got out looking to play a lofted stroke. Yash Dubey (14 off 41) was caught behind, with Samson becoming the fourth man to fall in the middle. Khaleel Ahmed and Aaqib Khan picked up two wickets each.

Earlier today (September 13), India A were dismissed for 290 in their first innings. They too were in a precarious position, finding themselves 93/5 at one stage before half-centuries from Shams Mulani (89 off 187) and Tanush Kotian (53 off 80) helped them crawl back into the contest and post a competitive total. Harshit Rana (4/51) and Vidhwath Kaverappa (2/30) starred with the ball for India D.

The post-lunch session is underway and India D will be looking to rebuild and clear the deficit. They are at 91/4 after 29 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal and Ricky Bhui batting in the middle.
