[Watch] Sanju Samson dismissed for a duck in 2024 SA vs IND 2nd T20I after two consecutive tons

Sanju Samson, who achieved a historic feat by scoring back-to-back T20I centuries, was dismissed for a three-ball duck in India’s second T20I of the four-match series against South Africa on November 10. Notably, Samson scored a match-winning 107 in the first T20I to help India gain a 1-0 lead.

Marco Jansen dismissed Samson on the third ball of the game as the Indian opener walked back to the dugout without opening his account. Samson failed to read the delivery as the tall Proteas bowler stuck to his length and knocked over the leg stump.

Here’s a video of Sanju Samson’s dismissal:

Samson came into the game on the back of two consecutive T20I centuries. After scoring 111 against Bangladesh in October in the third T20I of the three-match home series, the Rajasthan Royals skipper notched up 107 runs against South Africa in Durban.

Indian top order crumbles as South Africa pick up three wickets in powerplay

India’s start of the innings wasn’t ideal as the Men in Blue lost their top-order batters inside the powerplay. The visitors were put to bat first after South African skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to field.

After Samson’s wicket on the third delivery of the first over, Suryakumar Yadav joined the other opener - Abhishek Sharma - on the crease. The 24-year-old sent the ball towards the fence for a boundary off the first ball he faced in the second over, but was soon dismissed by Gerald Coetzee on the fifth delivery of the over.

The youngster attempted a pull shot as Coetzee bowled short, but ended up getting the top edge as Marco Jansen safely completed the catch on the short fine leg. Andile Simelane then dismissed the Indian skipper as Suryakumar Yadav walked back scoring a mere four runs off nine deliveries

The Indian side lost three wickets in the first four overs of the game as the hosts managed to build the pressure on the visitors early on.
