[Watch] Sanju Samson gives fantastic reply to a question about ODI snub despite scoring 108 in his last game for India
The 2024 T20 World Cup winner Sanju Samson attended a press conference during the launch of Kerala Cricket League organized by KCA. A journalist present at the event asked him about the selectors ignoring him for the Sri Lanka ODIs despite the fact that he scored a hundred in his previous ODI knock against South Africa.
Instead of complaining about non-selection or giving silly reasons, Sanju Samson accepted the selection committee's decision. He mentioned that the team's performance mattered more to him and added that he only focused on the controllable things in his life.
In a video shared by a fan from that press conference, Samson said:
"I will just go and play whenever they select it. That's it! End of the day, our team is doing well. I am the kind of person who believes in higher purpose. I just try to take things positively under controllable circumstances and put up the efforts."
It is pertinent to note that Samson scored a 114-ball 108 in his previous ODI against South Africa at Boland Park. India won that game by 78 runs and secured a 2-1 series win. Still, the selectors preferred Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul over Samson for the recent tour of Sri Lanka.
Sanju Samson opens up on playing under Gautam Gambhir for Team India
Gautam Gambhir showered praise on Samson when he worked as a cricket expert for TV channels. He is the coach of Team India now, and Samson got an opportunity to spend time with him during the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. When asked about his experience of playing under Gambhir, Samson replied:
"It's all good!"
After a hectic T20 season, Samson is enjoying his break from cricket now. He will likely return to action for India's next T20I series against Bangladesh, starting October 6.
