Team India's Sanju Samson was recently seen playing football on a basketball court. The wicketkeeper-batter is enjoying a break following the culmination of the Men in Blue's Sri Lanka tour.l

Samson was part of India's three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka but was not picked for the subsequent three-match ODI series. The 29-year-old opened the batting in the second T20I, though he had a forgettable outing as he bagged a golden duck. He endured yet another failure in the third and final fixture, getting out for a four-ball duck.

Amid the cricketing break, Samson was seen unwinding by playing football. The video of the cricket star playing football on a basketball court was shared by one of his fan clubs on social media platform X.

It is worth mentioning that Sanju Samson was part of India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad. However, he was benched throughout the showpiece event, with the Indian think tank preferring Rishabh Pant over him for the wicketkeeper-batter's role.

Sanju Samson's exclusion from India's squad for the ODI series raised many eyebrows, given that he had scored 108 against South Africa in his last appearance in the format.

At a press conference during the launch of the Kerala Cricket League, Samson was asked about his exclusion from India's ODI team. He said the team doing well was of more significance to him.

Samson said:

"I will just go and play whenever they select me. That's it! End of the day, our team is doing well. I am the kind of person who believes in higher purpose. I just try to take things positively under controllable circumstances and put up the efforts."

Sanju Samson was not named in any of the four squads for the upcoming 17th edition of the Duleep Trophy. The tournament is set to begin on September 5.
