[Watch] Sanju Samson smashes second-fastest T20I century by an Indian during IND vs BAN 3rd T20I 2024

Keeper-batter Sanju Samson entered the record books after scoring the second-fastest century by an Indian in T20I cricket. The 29-year-old achieved this remarkable feat during the third T20I against Bangladesh on Saturday, October 12, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The milestone was reached on the first ball of the 13th over. Mahedi Hasan bowled a tossed-up delivery right in Sanju’s hitting range and he lofted it over the bowler’s head for a four, marking his maiden T20I century and the second-fastest in Indian cricket history, reaching it in just 40 balls.

He now trails only former T20I captain Rohit Sharma, who set the record with a century in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

The right-handed batter made an impressive 111 runs off 47 balls, in a knock featuring 11 boundaries and eight sixes, before being dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.
