[Watch] Sarfaraz Khan cheers from dressing room as brother Musheer Khan smashes hundred in IND A vs IND B 2024 Duleep Trophy match
India B's Musheer Khan made a stellar century as his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan cheered from the dressing room. This notable performance occurred during the 2024 Duleep Trophy match against India A on Thursday, September 5, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Coming in at No. 3, Musheer Khan played a steady innings despite India B losing wickets at the other end. The 19-year-old reached his century on the final ball of the 74th over. He gently tapped the ball to square leg and sprinted for a quick single, reaching his milestone off 205 balls.
Sarfaraz Khan, along with his teammates and the support staff, applauded his younger brother’s achievement from the balcony. Here’s the video of the moment:
At the end of the day's play, the 19-year-old was unbeaten on 105 off 227. He will look to further contribute to his team’s total of 202-7 on Day 2 of the match between India A and India B.
Musheer Khan saves the day for stuttering India B
India A captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to field first. India B’s opening pair of Abhimanyu Easwaran and Yashasvi Jaiswal started steadily, but a lapse in concentration led to Easwaran's dismissal for 13.
Jaiswal, meanwhile, failed to convert his start into a significant innings, getting out for 30 off 59 to Khaleel Ahmed. Sarfaraz Khan had a disappointing performance, scoring only nine off 35. Rishabh Pant, making his return to red-ball cricket, began in typical fashion with a boundary on the first ball but was dismissed for seven by Akash Deep.
Akash Deep struck again on the very next ball, removing Nitish Reddy for a golden duck, leaving India B tottering at 80-5 after 35.3 overs. However, Musheer formed a crucial unbeaten 108-run partnership off 212 balls with Navdeep Saini to resurrecting India B’s innings.
At stumps on Day 1, India B were 202-7 after 79 overs, with Musheer Khan on 105 and Saini on 29. Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep claimed two wickets each for India A.
