[Watch] Scott Edwards departs immediately after a reverse-scoop six following magnificent run-out from Aiden Markram in SA vs NED T20 World Cup clash

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards unfortunately got run out during the 2024 T20 World Cup match against South Africa on Saturday (June 8). The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York is hosting the clash.

South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and invited the Dutch team to bat first on a tricky surface. The Proteas' pace attack took advantage of the bowling-friendly conditions and troubled the Netherlands from the outset. They put a tight leash on the scoring and triggered a top-order collapse to reduce the opposition side to 32/4 in 9.1 overs.

Scott Edwards came to the crease in the 10th over and tried to play with intent. He hit the first six of the match in the next over with a wonderful reverse-scoop shot over slip cordon against express pacer Anrich Nortje. However, he failed to build on the momentum and departed on the next ball.

Edwards deflected the ball towards the mid-on region and tried to sneak a non-existent single. Markram collected the ball cleanly and effected a direct hit to catch Edwards short of the crease.

"Guys did well to keep them to just 103"- South African pacer Anrich Nortje after his 2-wicket spell vs Netherlands in 2024 T20 World Cup clash

During the mid-innings break, South African pacer Anrich Nortje reflected on his spell and the action that unfolded in the first innings, saying:

"Guys did well to keep them to just 103 and Baartman in the end was superb. Two games we've had, we were brilliant in the field and we keep working on it, hopefully we can continue that in the World Cup."

He continued:

"It's great to have a team who's backing you, there's little bit in the media about me, question marks. It's great to be out here, end of the day it's all about helping the team win. It's very fun to be part, great bunch of guys in the bench and everyone knows what their roles are and we have our bases our covered. Really hope we go all the way this time."
