In the fifth game of The Hundred Men's Competition 2024, Birmingham Phoenix player Sean Abbott was on fire against the London Spirit, taking four wickets in his first eight deliveries. The match took place on Saturday, July 27, at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Australian pacer bowled 10 balls on the trot (21 to 30). He first dismissed Michael Pepper on the 21st ball, who scored 16 off 12. The second wicket came on the 23rd ball when Adam Rossington was caught brilliantly by Dan Mousley on the deep square leg boundary.
A ball later, Abbott got rid of Daniel Lawrence. The ball went through the gap between pad and bat, as Lawrence could only manage one off two balls. The London Spirit found themselves in deep trouble at 30/4 in 25 balls.
The last wicket came on the 28th ball in the form of Ryan Higgins, who didn’t trouble the scorers. The London Spirit went from 28/2 to 30/5 in just eight balls.
