Shaheen Afridi held onto a brilliant catch despite his collision with Usman Khan to dismiss Mark Adair in the 2024 T20 World Cup between Ireland and Pakistan in Lauderhill, Florida, on Sunday (June 16). As a result, Adair departed for 15 runs off 19 balls, including two boundaries.
The dismissal took place in the 14th over of Ireland’s innings. Imad bowled a full-length delivery and Adair went for a big shot towards the cow corner but he got more height than distance. Afridi rushed from long-on to mid-wicket to take the catch. He collided with Usman, who also came rushing for the catch.
There was no call between the two players, leading to the collision. Luckily, Shaheen Afridi managed to hold onto the catch.

A clinical bowling display from Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim helped Pakistan restrict Ireland to 106/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Afridi and Wasim emerged as the leading wicket-taker, returning with three scalps each. Mohammad Amir also bagged two wickets while Haris Rauf collected one.
The top five Irish batters departed for single digits. Gareth Delany top scored with 31 off 19 balls, including three sixes and one boundary. Joshua Little also chipped in with 22 off 18 deliveries. Mark Adair and George Dockrell chipped in with double digits as well.
Pakistan will look to end the T20 World Cup on a positive note. The Men in Green are already knocked out of the tournament as India and co-hosts USA qualified for the second round from Group A.
Babar Azam and Co. lost to the USA by five runs in a Super Over thriller before losing to India by six runs in a low-scoring affair. They registered their first win against Canada in their last outing.
Meanwhile, Ireland would be keen to avoid last place in the Group A points table by registering their first win of the 2024 T20 World Cup. They lost to India and Canada by eight wickets and 12 runs, respectively, in their first two games. Their last match against the USA was abandoned due to rain.
