[Watch] Shahnawaz Dahani runs towards opposition team's dugout to celebrate a wicket in Champions One-Day Cup 2024 final
Pakistani pacer Shahnawaz Dahani was all pumped up in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 final in Faisalabad on Sunday, September 29. Playing for Markhors, the fast bowler dismissed Panthers' opener Umar Siddiq with a peach of a delivery in the eighth over of the run chase.
It was a length ball from Dahani that nipped back into the left-handed batter. Siddiq tried to defend the ball but was beaten comprehensively and was out bowled. The wicket ended the 51-run opening partnership for Panthers.
Panthers were in a commanding position, given that they were required to chase down a modest 123-run target. However, despite his team being in a losing position, Dahani performed an over-the-top celebration following the wicket, sprinting towards the opposition team's dugout
You can watch the video of Dahani's animated celebration below:
Markhors won the toss and chose to bat first in the summit clash. Their batting let them down in the all-important encounter, with veteran opener Fakhar Zaman being the sole saving grace with a 46-run knock. Mohammad Hasnain and Arafat Minhas claimed three wickets each for Panthers.
Panthers ultimately chased down the target in 18 overs with five wickets in hand to clinch the Champions One-Day Cup 2024 trophy. Opener Abdul Bangalzai was the top performer with the bat, scoring 41 runs. Shahnawaz Dahani finished with figures of 8-0-54-1.
Shahnawaz Dahani performed underwhelmingly in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024
Shahnawaz Dahani last featured for Pakistan in October 2022. The 26-year-old had a great chance of getting back into the national selectors' reckoning by doing well in the Champions One-Day Cup 2024.
However, the seamer failed to make a significant impact throughout the tournament. He picked just three wickets across five outings at an economy rate of 6.28.
It is worth mentioning that Dahani was hit for five successive fours by Babar Azam in match number four of the tournament featuring Markhors and Stallions.
