[Watch] Shakib Al Hasan takes a spectacular diving catch to send Marcus Stoinis packing in GT20 Canada

Bangla Tigers Mississauga captain Shakib Al Hasan pulled off a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Surrey Jaguars skipper Marcus Stoinis in the 18th match of Global T20 Canada on Monday, August 5. The game is being played at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

The dismissal came on the first ball of the eighth over. Curtis Campher bowled a full delivery as Marcus Stoinis tried to hit it out of the ground. However, the right-handed batter didn’t get enough power behind the shot as the bat moved in his hand. The Bangla Tigers Mississauga skipper was brilliant on the field, as he took a spectacular diving catch at mid-off to dismiss the explosive batter.

The Australian all-rounder had a poor outing, as he only scored one run off four balls. Stoinis dismissal left his side at 38/4 after 7.1 overs.


Shakib Al Hasan’s side restrict Surrey Jaguars to a low total

Bangla Tigers Mississauga won the toss and chose to bowl first after the game was reduced to 18 overs due to rain. David Wiese provided a great start as he dismissed Kyle Mayers in the first over of the game. Shakib Al Hasan and Curtis Campher got one wicket each in the fifth and sixth overs to put the Surrey Jaguars on the back foot.

The Surrey Jaguars batters had a tough time at the crease as they struggled to put up a decent partnership. Keeper-batter Shreyas Movva scored the highest 21 runs, while a 16-run innings off eight balls by Sunil Narine helped the Surrey Jaguars finish at 108/8 in 18 overs. Curtis Campher took four wickets for the Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

In reply, at the time of writing, Bangla Tigers Mississauga were 33/1 after four overs with Muhammad Waseem and Rahmanullah Gurbaz at the crease.
