[Watch] Shamar Joseph cleans up Aiden Markram with a beauty to get his first Test wicket on home soil

West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph bowled a peach of a delivery to get rid of South African opener Aiden Markram on Day 1 of the second Test match on Thursday, August 15 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The winner of this game will claim the series, as the first match ended in a draw.

The dismissal came on the third ball of the 11th over. Shamar Joseph bowled a wobble seam delivery on a good length, which the South African batter tried to leave. However, the ball came in with the angle and hit the top of the off-stump. Joseph was pumped up as he took off on a celebratory run.

Aiden Markram scored 14 off 30 deliveries; his wicket left South Africa at 20/2 after 10.3 overs. Here’s the video of the dismissal:

South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bat first. However, the visitors didn’t get an ideal start as they lost opener Tony de Zorzi in the fourth over. The left-handed batter was missed by Jayden Seales for one.

Shamar Joseph put South Africa in a spot of bother as he took two wickets in the 11th over. The pacer first got rid of Aiden Markram with a super delivery on the third ball. A ball later, he trapped the opponent's captain, Bavuma, in front of the wickets. The Proteas captain went without troubling the scorers.

Tristan Stubbs (26) and David Bedingham stitched together a 37-run partnership in 72 balls for the fourth wicket before the former was dismissed by Jason Holder. At lunch on Day 1, the visitors are 64/4 in 26 overs, with Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne at the crease.
