[Watch] Shamar Joseph gets his first wicket of the series as Duckett falls after a historic fifty

West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph got his first wicket of the series when he dismissed England opener Ben Duckett on the first day of the second Test match on Thursday, July 18, at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

After being asked to bat first, England lost Zak Crawley early, but Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope built a 105-run partnership in 112 balls before the former got out.

Joseph bowled a full delivery that nipped away after pitching just outside off on the last ball of the 19th over. The left-handed batter went for a drive but only managed a thick outside edge as Jason Holder took a good catch at second slip.

This was the first wicket in the series for young West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph. Duckett's dismissal left his team at 105/2 after 19 overs.

Nevertheless, Duckett wreaked havoc before departing. The English opener scored 71 runs off 59 balls with 14 fours in his innings, including four consecutive boundaries in the second over of the game against Jayden Seales.

Duckett brought up his fifty in 32 balls, becoming the third-fastest English player to do so after Ian Botham and Jonny Bairstow.

England off to a great start in the second Test against the West Indies

West Indies captain Kraigg Braithwaite won the toss and chose to field first. Alzarri Joseph got a wicket in the first over but the bowlers were treated to ‘bazball’ after that. The hosts registered the fastest team fifty (4.2 overs) in the history of Test cricket.

While Duckett scored a record-breaking fifty, the right-handed batter, Ollie Pope, has looked in great touch.

At lunch on the first day of the second Test, England was 134/2 after 26 overs. Ollie Pope (47 off 75) and Joe Root (13 off 20) were at the crease for England. The West Indies bowlers will be looking to get some quick wickets in the second session before things get out of their hands.
