[Watch] Shreyas Iyer hilariously forgets to blow the candles as he celebrates his birthday with family
Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who turned 30 on Friday, December 6, shared a video on social media from his birthday celebration, where he amusingly forgot to blow out the candles.
In the video, he is seen cutting the cake with his parents, father Santosh and mother Rohini. In a humorous moment, he forgot to blow out the candles and started sharing the cake with his mom, only remembering to blow out the candles afterward.
On Saturday, December 7, he took to X to share a video and a picture of himself with the cake, captioning it:
“Entering a new chapter with my favourite people around me. Thank you everyone for your wishes.”
The Mumbai cricketer recently became the second-most expensive player in IPL history. During the IPL 2025 mega auction, Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore, making him the second-highest purchase in the tournament's history, just behind Rishabh Pant, who was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore in the same auction.
The 30-year-old has featured in 116 IPL matches, scoring 3,127 runs, including 21 fifties. He also captained Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in the 2024 edition, securing their third IPL title and his first as captain.

Mumbai has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. They finished second in Group E with five wins from six matches and will face Vidarbha in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, December 11.
In their final league game against Andhra, they made history by achieving the highest successful run chase in SMAT history. Ajinkya Rahane starred with 95 off 54 balls as Mumbai chased down 230 with three balls to spare. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has had a solid tournament with the bat, scoring 278 runs in five innings, including one fifty and one century.
