[Watch] Shreyas Iyer spotted at the airport ahead of IND vs SL ODI series
Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 title, was seen at the airport ahead of the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka. Iyer looked dapper as he opted for a casual look, wearing a brown T-shirt, white lower, and matching sneakers. He also posed with a female fan while getting clicked by paparazzi before entering the airport.
It can’t be confirmed whether Iyer left for Sri Lanka for the ODI series. The three games are scheduled for August 2, 4, and 7 in Colombo.

Shreyas Iyer will look to convert his recent IPL success in the 50-over format. The right-hander scored 351 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 146.86 with the help of two half-centuries.
Iyer was one of the leading run-getters at the 2023 World Cup, scoring 530 runs in 11 games at an average of 66.25, hitting two tons and three half-centuries. Overall, he amassed 846 runs in 19 innings at an average of 52.88 in the 50-over format last year. Iyer has 2383 runs in 54 innings with the help of five centuries and 18 fifties.

KKR’s IPL-winning coach Chandrakant Pandit recently backed Shreyas Iyer to lead India in the future. He told the Times of India:
“I would give a lot of credit to Shreyas. He’s been a fantastic captain, very calm and cool. He was receptive to our suggestions and handled the team well on and off the field. With KKR, he showed the qualities, which make him worthy for India captaincy in the future.”
Interestingly, Shubman Gill was made India’s new vice-captain in ODIs and T20Is ahead of Iyer and KL Rahul.
In Sri Lanka, Iyer will reunite with Gautam Gambhir (India’s new head coach), Abhishek Nayar, and Ryan Ten Doeschate (assistant coaches). The trio were part of the Knight Riders in IPL 2024.
