[Watch] Shubman Gill gets out for 31 after completely missing a full ball in BGT 2024-25 2nd Test
Team India were rocked for the third time in the last 30 minutes after Scott Boland trapped Shubman Gill plumb on Day 1 of the day-night Test in Adelaide on Friday, December 6. Gill scored 31 off 51 balls with the help of five boundaries before walking back to the pavilion.
After missing the first Test in Perth due to a finger injury, Gill returned to the playing XI for this match. He walked out to bat after Mitchell Starc trapped Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball of the Test. Gill showed signs of form immediately, hitting a few glorious boundaries.
He joined hands with KL Rahul (37) to build a 69-run partnership before Starc dismissed the opener. The left-arm pacer kept the momentum by getting rid of Virat Kohli (7) in the next over.
With only a few overs to go for lunch, Shubman Gill had only one job of seeing the team through until then. However, the loss of wickets put pressure on him, as he missed a simple full delivery to get out LBW.
It was a full delivery from Boland outside the off-stump and it was there to hit. However, Gill shuffled across and tried to play a flick, missing the ball completely. It struck on his pads and was dead in front of the stumps. Umpire Richard Illingworth had no hesitation in raising his fingers.

After the first-over blow, Team India recovered well courtesy of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. They added 69 runs for the second wicket to set a good platform heading into the lunch.
However, a short burst from Mitchell Starc, where he dismissed Rahul and Virat Kohli, led to India's downfall. Scott Boland, playing in place of injured Josh Hazlewood, also stood up from the other end, getting the batter of Shubman Gill, as the visitors were reduced to 81/4 from 69/1.
At lunch on Day 1, India are 82/4 with Rishabh Pant (4) and Rohit Sharma (1) in the middle.
