[Watch] Shubman Gill hits six to complete consecutive tons in IPL as GT end RCB’s playoff hopes

Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Shubman Gill starred with the bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during their six-wicket win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (May 21).

The right-hander smashed a six off Wayne Parnell when his team required as many runs to win the game in the 20th over. With the maximum, Gill also completed back-to-back tons in the T20 tournament.

Gill smashed an unbeaten 104 off 52 at a stunning strike rate of 200, including eight sixes and five boundaries. He also shared a 123-run partnership with Vijay Shankar to helpv GT recover from 25-1 during their stiff 198-run chase.

With his ton, the Punjab-born youngster has joined Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Jos Buttler as the only batters with consecutive IPL hundreds.

Gill had scored 101 off 58 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, a game that GT won by 34 runs.

For the uninitiated, Gill has been sensational with the bat in IPL 2023. The 23-year-old has amassed 680 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 152.46, including two centuries and four fifties. He will now look to guide GT to back-to-back IPL titles.

A clinical batting performance from Shubman Gill helped GT beat RCB by six wickets to end the latter's hopes of a playoff berth. Besides Gill, Vijay Shankar contributed 53 off 35, including two sixes and seven boundaries.

For RCB, Mohammed Siraj emerged as the pick of the bowlers, returning with figures of 2-32. Vijaykumar Vyshak and Harshal Patel scalped one apiece.

Earlier, RCB had posted 197-5 after being asked to bat first. Virat Kohli starred with an unbeaten 101 off 61, including 13 boundaries and a six. Faf du Plessis, Michael Bracewell and Anuj Rawat chipped in with 28 (19), 26 (16) and 23*(15), respectively.

Noor Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers, bagging a couple of wickets. Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal and Rashid Khan picked up one apiece. GT will now play Qualifier 1 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday (May 23).
