[Watch] Shubman Gill's fans celebrate his birthday by distributing food packets to needy kids
Team India vice-captain Shubman Gill's ardent fans celebrated his birthday by extending help to underprivileged kids. The talented batter turned 25 on Sunday (September 8). He is currently in Bengaluru with the India A side, participating in Duleep Trophy 2024. Gill's team suffered a 76-run loss against India B in the opening match of the tournament at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
Shubman Gill failed to make substantial contributions with the bat, as he got out for 25 (43) and 21 (35). He will be disappointed about not converting after getting starts in both innings.
Despite not having a great time on the field on his birthday, his fans made it special with their kind-hearted gesture. They distributed food to underprivileged kids and also cut a cake to celebrate the special occasion. An X user (@HeyAsh_77) gave a glimpse of it by sharing a video on the social media platform.

"We have ten Tests coming up"- Shubman Gill looks forward to performing consistently in upcoming Indian Test season
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Duleep Trophy, Shubman Gill admitted that he has not been able to match his own expectations in Test cricket. He remained hopeful of turning things around during the upcoming season, where India will play 10 matches. As quoted by Cricbuzz, Gill said:
"I've not been up to my own expectations [in Test cricket]. But we have ten Tests coming up together. Hopefully, after these ten Tests end, I'd be up to my expectations or more. I worked on my defence a little bit more against the spinners."
He continued:
"Playing on turning tracks, you should be able to defend a lot more. Then you play scoring shots. With more T20s and playing on batting friendly tracks in the white ball, I feel it takes away a little from your defensive game over a period of time. So that was my focus during the England series."
Shubman Gill has been named in the 16-man India squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, which commences on September 19 in Chennai.
