[Watch] Sophie Ecclestone takes a stunner to send back Alice Capsey during Manchester Originals vs Oval Invincibles match in The Hundred Women's

Manchester Originals left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone took a sensational catch to send back Oval Invincibles' batter Alice Capsey during The Hundred Women's 2024 encounter between the two teams. The match is currently being played at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday, August 6.

The sensational catch was taken on the final delivery of the 10th set of the Invincibles' innings. Alice Monaghan bowled a full-length delivery which was drilled towards mid-on by Capsey.

The ball kept swirling away from Sophie Ecclestone, but she timed her dive to perfection to get both hands on it and kept hold of it as she tumbled over the turf.

Here's a video of the catch:

Ecclestone was fired up and understandably so as it was a brilliant catch to tip the momentum in the favor of the Originals.

Sophie Ecclestone's cameo gave the Originals a competitive total

Opting to bat first, Manchester Originals got off to a fine start, thanks to a quickfire 38 off 29 balls from Laura Wolvaardt. Beth Mooney (22 off 20) and Eve Jones (19 off 21) couldn't convert their starts into big scores.

Skipper Sophie Ecclestone then played a fine cameo down the order, scoring 26 runs off just 15 balls in an innings that included four boundaries. That helped the Originals post 125/4 in their 20 sets.

In reply, Chamari Athapaththu scored 33 runs, but it came off 36 deliveries as the Manchester Originals bowled a disciplined line and length. Lauren Winfield-Hill (20 off 15) also couldn't convert her start.

Ecclestone's catch to send back Alice Capsey could prove to be a big moment in the game as the latter was one a big hope for the Invincibles to get them over the line. At the time of writing, the Invincibles need 33 runs to win off 23 balls with Marizanne Kapp (12* off 6) and Paige Scholfield (22* off 16) at the crease.
