[Watch] 'Sorry sorry' - Akash Deep and Travis Head involved in a hilarious moment on Day 5 of BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Akash Deep and Travis Head were involved in an amusing moment in the early stages of the final day (Wednesday, December 18) of the third Border-Gavaskar series Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. The pair came face-to-face towards the end of Team India's first innings.

During the 78th over of the innings, bowled by Nathan Lyon, tail-ender Akash Deep defended the ball by pushing his leg out, only for the ball to sneak into his pad. While the Australians issued a light appeal, Travis Head, placed at short-leg, expected Akash to retrieve the ball.

Instead of putting the ball into Head's extended hand, the Indian bowler dropped it on the ground. The action invited a glare from Travis Head, who had to bend down to collect the ball. Akash issued an instant apology before preparing for the next delivery, saying:

"Sorry, sorry."

Akash Deep played a crucial knock, coming in as the last man for India. His heroics with the bat rescued the visitors who avoided the follow-on and potentially a loss.

Travis Head dismissed Akash Deep to wrap up India's first innings in 3rd BGT Test

Travis Head's part-time spin was introduced the very next over and he needed only five deliveries to break the last-wicket stand between Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah.

The tail-ender had lunged forward to defend the ball but missed it in the process. He dragged his foot a touch too much while going forward, and wicketkeeper Alex Carey did the rest with a quick stumping to conclude India's innings.

Akash scored 31 runs off 44 balls and added 47 runs for the final wicket. India were bowled out for 260 runs. While the Men in Blue still have a heavy 185-run deficit, there is not enough time left in the contest for Australia to enforce a result.

As of writing, the play is suspended due to a lightning threat at the venue. Players are back in the dressing room as Australia's second innings is yet to resume.
