Southern Brave player Akeal Hosein celebrated a wicket by doing footballing legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘nap’ celebration against Birmingham Phoenix. He did it in the 13th match of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2024 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Akeal Hosein got rid of Aneurin Donald on the 17th ball of the Birmingham Phoenix innings. The left-arm spinner bowled an arm bowl that got an extra bounce from good length.
Aneurin tried to flash it but only managed an edge and was caught at short third by Jofra Archer. After taking the wicket, the Brave player hit Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘nap’ celebration. The right-handed batter scored seven runs off six balls. Aneurin’s wicket left his side at 33/1 after 17 balls.

At the time of writing, the Birmingham Phoenix were 94/2 after 55 balls, needing 76 runs from 45 balls. Ben Duckett (71) and Moeen Ali (1) are at the crease for Phoenix.
Captain James Vince led from the front as the Southern Brave scored 169 runs in 100 balls
After being asked to bat first, Southern Brave openers Alex Davies and James Vince stitched together an 81-run partnership in 46 balls. The former was then dismissed by Benny Howell on 30. Leus du Plooy didn’t have a good outing, as Sean Abbott took his wicket on 9 runs.
James Vince and Kieron Pollard added 68 runs in 37 balls as the Southern Brave ended at 169/2 in 100 balls. Vince smashed 90 runs off 47 balls, hitting six fours and six maximums. Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 38 of 22 balls, smashing five boundaries and one six.
The Brave are in third place in the points table, having won two of their three games. On the other hand, Birmingham Phoenix have also won two matches out of three and are fifth in the points table.
