[Watch] "Spaghetti mafia"- Shreyas Iyer enjoys his vacation in Italy
Team India batter Shreyas Iyer recently posed in a picturesque location during his vacation in Italy after the conclusion of IPL 2024. He was last seen on the field last month, captaining the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the IPL. It was a memorable season as he led the KKR side to a trophy win after 10 long years.
Knight Riders won the IPL title in 2012 and 2014 under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, who returned to the fold as a mentor this season. Shreyas shepherded his troop well on the field and impressed many with his leadership abilities. He also contributed with the bat in the middle-order, scoring 351 runs, including two half-centuries.
Iyer faced a setback before the IPL, losing his central contract after a controversy surrounding an injury and his non-participation in a Ranji Trophy match. The KKR captain put it all behind him with a memorable IPL season.
Shreyas Iyer shared a couple of photos and a video on his Instagram handle to give a glimpse of his vacation to the fans after the grueling IPL 2024. He captioned the post:

"I decided that once I win Ranji Trophy and IPL that would be an apt answer"- Shreyas Iyer on controversy surrounding his injury and BCCI central contract
In a recent video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Shreyas Iyer opened up about the controversy regarding his fitness and losing his central contract early this year.
The stylish batter revealed that he intended to take a break to work on improving his fitness after having a dream run in the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, due to a lack of communication, things spiraled out of control. Iyer said:
"I had a terrific World Cup and I wanted to take a break after that and wanted to work on my body and build some strength around certain area. Due to lack of communication, there were some decisions, that didn't go in my favour."
He continued:
"I realized that the bat is going to be in my hand and it's on me to perform and win trophies. I decided that once I win Ranji Trophy and IPL that would be an apt answer for whatever happened in the past and thankfully everything fell to right place. I am grateful, how it happened."
