[Watch] Steve Smith reacts hilariously after reporter’s phone goes off during press conference in BGT 2024-25 4th Test
Australian batter Steve Smith had a hilarious reaction when a reporter's phone went off during the press conference after Day 2 of the fourth Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 35-year-old seemed to give a wry smile as the video of the incident emerged on social media.
With one of the reporters likely asking his approach heading to the third day, the New South Welshman was starting to give an answer when the reporter's phone rang. He immediately apologized to Smith and the batter simply let it go by saying, 'That's alright mate'.
Below is the video of the same:
Smith had a field day at the MCG as his 34th Test hundred helped the hosts post a massive total of 474. Smith resumed on 68 on Day 2 and reached the milestone with a boundary off Nitish Kumar Reddy before being dismissed in a freak manner by Akash Deep.
In the process, the former skipper also went past Joe Root for the most hundreds in the format against India.
"You have got to have some serious courage to do what he did yesterday" - Steve Smith stunned by Sam Konstas' audacious strokes
With debutant Sam Konstas taking on Jasprit Bumrah courageously in the morning session of Day 1 with some reverse ramps, Smith revealed that he was having heartaches in the dressing room. However, the veteran said the youngster's confidence was a thing to behold.
He stated, as quoted by Perth Now:
"I don’t think much fazes the young kid, as we saw yesterday, he was reverse ramping Bumrah and I was having a heartache up in the box. If it’s the future, maybe it’s time for me to finish. I mean, you have got to have some serious courage to do what he did yesterday. For a kid to have the confidence to start lapping and reverse lapping arguably one of the best bowlers that have played the game shows some real confidence in the kid and some real courage."
After amassing 474 on the board, Australia reduced the tourists to 164/5 at stumps on Day 2.
