[Watch] Stuart Broad unveils the end named after him at Trent Bridge ahead of ENG vs WI 2nd Test
Retired England seamer Stuart Broad unveiled the end named after him at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham ahead of Day 1 of the second Test against the West Indies. A video of the same emerged on social media as the Pavilion End officially became the Stuart Broad End.
It emerged on Wednesday that the Pavilion End will be named after the Nottinghamshire seamer since the venue advised the ticket-holders to be present at the right time. Club president Chris and the retired paceman's father was also present for the occasion.
Ahead of the special moment, the former England opener said it's a delight to have an end named after his son. As quoted by TrentBridge.co.uk, Chris Broad stated:
"I'm delighted that the Nottinghamshire Committee decided that Stuart should be remembered in this way. To have an end named after him is a complete delight.
"It was quite surreal, the first time I visited Trent Bridge this year, to hear the announcement that the bowler was bowling from the Stuart Broad End. I took a picture of the scoreboard and sent it to Stuart, and he was a little bit emotional seeing his name up there."
The ex-England bowler is the second-highest Test wicket-taker at Trent Bridge with 46 scalps in 11 matches. Overall, he finished with 604 wickets in 167 Tests and played in his final one at The Oval in 2023.
England playing their first home Test since 2012 without Stuart Broad or James Anderson
Meanwhile, the Englishmen are without Broad or James Anderson in the ongoing Test in Nottingham against the West Indies. It is the first home Test without the decorated pair since 2012. Anderson played his final Test at Lord's in the previous game of the series and is now the bowling mentor of the team.
West Indies won the toss and sent the home side into bat. Mark Wood replaced the retiring Anderson, but Ben Stokes announced that Gus Atkinson and Chris Woakes will take the new ball.
