Ashutosh Sharma played a confident-looking helicopter shot off Romario Shephard in the IPL 2024 game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in Mullanpur on Thursday, April 18.
The helicopter shot came during the 11th over of Punjab's run chase. Shephard bowled back of a length ball around the waist and Ashutosh pulled it with a helicopter flourish to clear the deep square leg. The right-hander looked confident with the shot even before it cleared the fielder for the maximum leaving everyone in awe.
Ashutosh played a similar shot against MI captain Hardik Pandya in the next over. The 25-year-old also smashed Jasprit Bumrah for a six off a free hit in the 13th over. He also played a reverse scoop for a six off Akash Madhwal in the 16th over.

For the unversed, Ashutosh Sharma has been in exceptional form with the bat in IPL 2024. He has scored of 31 (16), 33*(15), and 31 (17) against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Gujarat Titans (GT), respectively. The Madhya Pradesh batter would now be looking to continue his exploits in IPL and impress selectors and earn a place in Team India.

Ashutosh Sharma's half-century went in vain as MI beat PBKS by nine runs in the IPL on Thursday.
Chasing 193, PBKS were bundled out for 183 in 19.1 overs. Ashutosh starred with the bat for Punjab by scoring 61 off 28, smashing seven sixes and two boundaries. He also shared a 50-plus partnership with Harpreet Brar (21 off 20) for the eighth wicket. Shashank Singh also looked good for his 41 off 25 with the help of three sixes and two boundaries.
Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee bagged three wickets each for MI, while Hardik Pandya, Akash Madhwal, and Shreyas Gopal picked up one apiece.
Asked to bat first, MI put up 192/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav starred with the bat, scoring 78 off 53 in an innings laced with three maximums and seven boundaries. The right-hander also shared an 81-run partnership with Rohit Sharma (36 off 25) after Ishan Kishan departed cheaply. Tilak Varma also chipped in with 34 off 18, including two sixes and as many fours.
Harshal Patel was the top wicket-taker for PBKS, returning with figures of 3/31, while skipper Sam Curran scalped two wickets.
