[Watch] Tanzim Sakib’s fiery exchange with Brandon King after throwing the ball at him in WI vs BAN 2024 2nd ODI
Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Sakib had a verbal exchange with West Indies opener Brandon King during the second ODI of the three-match series. The Warner Park in St Kitts hosted the second ODI on Tuesday, December 10.
Coming into the game on the back of a defeat in the first ODI, Bangladesh were asked to bat first. A half-century from Mahmadullah and contributions from opener Tanzid Hasan (46) and Sakib (45) propelled the visitors to 227 runs. Jayden Seales was the pick of the Windies bowlers, returning with a four-wicket haul.
In response, King and Evin Lewis got the home side off to a decent start. They found boundaries at will and the runs came flying, which irked the Bangladeshi bowlers. It led to pacer Tanzim Sakib throwing a ball at the West Indies opener before getting involved in a verbal spat.
The incident took place in the final ball of the sixth over. It was a length delivery and King punched it back to the bowler. Sakib picked the ball and threw it at the striker's end only to hit the batter. The bowler appealed for obstructing the field by King was well within the crease.
The turn of events triggered a verbal exchange between the two players before the umpires intervened. They spoke with both cricketers before normalcy resumed.
